Dental Invisalign

Invisalign is a removable and clear set of trays that are computer designed and manufactured to replace the traditional braces for correcting misalignment of the teeth. Invisalign was a brainchild of technology savvy patient from Canada who was undergoing orthodontic treatment through the conventional methods. He hated his braces so much that he came up with the idea of Invisalign which changed the orthodontic treatment for ever. Since the success of Invisalign, many other copycats have entered the market providing similar way of correcting a patient’s smile.

An Invisalign is a series of well fitting plastic trays that are made based on a patient’s dental cast models as well as the information provided by the treating dentist. The information is entered into a computer system and a series of progressive trays are made that reflects the changes that are predicted by the computer program. Depending on the complexity of each case, the number of trays will vary and that will determine the time that it takes for a patient to complete his/her orthodontic treatment.  The treatment time is also dependent on each patient’s cooperation to wear the trays at least 20-22 hours a day.

Skyce –Diamonds are forever.

  1. Highly esthetic as the clear plastic fits on the teeth and there are no brackets or metal to show
  2. Can easily be removed by the patient allowing them to brush and floss between teeth between meals
  3. Comfortable to wear compared to traditional braces where patients have to constantly place wax over the brackets to prevent soreness around the lips and tissues inside the mouth

  1. Patient’s cooperation is needed. If the patient does not wear the aligners as prescribed by the dentist, the treatment will take much longer to complete.
  2. Patients can lose the aligners. If patients are not careful, they can lose the retainers. However, a replacement one can be made available.
  3. Cost could sometimes be higher than the traditional forms of braces as the cost of design and fabrication those trays could be higher for the dentist

Q How does Invisalign work?
A Using the latest advances in 3-D computer technology, Invisalign translates our doctor's instructions into a series of nearly undetectable aligners. You wear each set of aligners for about two to three weeks, moving your teeth millimetre by millimetre until you've achieved the desired result.
Q Is Invisalign effective?
A works for a wide range of people whose teeth are too crowded or have spaces between them, as well as for those whose teeth may have shifted after having worn braces in their youth.
Q How often will I have to wear my aligners?
A Invisalign only works while you're wearing the aligners. It's recommended that you wear your aligners full-time, day and night, except to eat, brush and floss your teeth.
Q How long does Invisalign take?
A The duration of treatment depends on the severity of your case, which determines the number of aligners you need. However, the average is about 12 months, but only your orthodontist can determine the length of your treatment.
Q How do I get started?
